DWTS-2010 - The Routine, Part I
What was Bill's routine and how did he do? Well, let me begin by describing the routine. It began with an opening act that was fun, light, and full of colorful costumes and props. The stage was set to a 1950's Cuban Cafe. It had it all, floozies, body guards, the young stud (Bill), the refined rich guy, and lots of money. Now before we go any further, you have to get in the mood, so listen to the song Cuban Mambo at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qm8JZuplM0. Ok, now that you get the picture envision two Mamboettes walking down the aisles to the front of the stage. Yes, complete with I Love Lucy costumes and fruit on their heads. On stage, were three more Mamboettes and three Mambomen all dancing choreographed steps. Not only did the Mambo Chorus line dance but they got the chance to sing thanks to Bill and his man made microphones. Once the song ended, the Chorus line motioned to Nancy and Bill who were center stage. Now, I do have to take a few minutes and thank Terri for making costumes, Melodie for finding the young Mamboettes and Mambomen, and to Bill for using his creativity and black electrical tape to create mustaches and ties for the men. Sorry, I can't give away his secret about the microphones.
Some of the first photos of the routine can be viewed via facebook or at our website: http://bgdance.net/.
So, Bill begins by dancing behind a silhouette screen that he made along with our builder, Don. He comes out from behind the screen and dances over to the live horn player, Charlie with authentic Mambo moves. After that, Bill turns his focus to Nancy who happens to be sitting on the refined rich guy's lap, Daniel. Of course, Bill entices Nancy away from Daniel and they dance the Mambo but it doesn't take long for the rich guy to send his two body guards, Steve and Robert to get Bill. The rich guy is then able to sway Nancy away from Bill with lots of money being thrown all over the stage. Bad girl Nancy, leaves Bill and dances away with the rich guy but she has second thoughts and kicks the rich guy to the floor. Nancy, feeling generous, shares the money with two other floozies, Susan and Karen. Karen makes sure the rich guy stays down by putting her foot on him. Susan entices the two body guards away from Bill leaving a clear path for Nancy to dance back to Bill. In the end, love wins and everyone realizes that money can't buy happiness. But it doesn't stop there, the entire cast joins Bill and Nancy in a choreographed finale and the judges join the cast in a conga line off the stage. To complete the story, you have to listen to the song Mambo Jambo that Bill and Nancy danced to at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l1AbTFfA9E&feature=related.
Well, I think that's enough for now. Will give you the rest of the story tomorrow.
